Why did you start Caution Meet Wind?
I have spent a great part of my life traveling. As I continued to explore the world, friends and family were always asking me for travel advice. I realized a website was the perfect way to help travelers plan fantastic trips and provide a window into many far off destinations. Through Caution Meet Wind I hope to make it easy and exiting for people to explore the world. The name “Caution Meet Wind” is symbolic of a way of life, to always be fearless and embrace every adventure.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in downtown Chicago, Illinois. I moved to the East Coast and the South for college and law school, but I am now back living in Chicago. I love how livable the city is, and that it truly has something for everyone.
Where have you Traveled?
So far, I have visited 5 continents and 39 countries. Many of those in the last five years. I cannnot wait to share all of my adventures, past and future, with you through Caution Meet Wind.
How can you afford to travel so frequently?
Some of my travel is mandatory for work (I am a consultant) or for school (I am a Global Executive Masters Candidate at a University in Paris). When I travel for pleasure I often use miles or points to minimize costs. I am very strategic about which credit cards and airline alliances I use to optimize my travel. I will share all of my tips and tricks here on Caution Meet Wind.
Where is your favorite place to visit?
This is an impossible question to answer! Every new adventure is the opportunity to find another favorite place around the world. I love spending a week on a sailboat, off the gird, enjoying local culture. Some of my favorite sailing adventures have been to Anguilla and the Aeolian Islands in Sicily. I also love cities, spending time in the chaos of local life. A few of my favorite cities around the world are Tokyo, New York, and Amsterdam.
Where do you want to travel next?
It is a huge dream of mine to visit Africa. While I ultimately want to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, I hope to travel to Morocco or Botswana this year. I also really want to visit India- the vibrant colors and intense pace of life are fascinating. There is also New Zealand, China, Sri Lanka, and Norway to name a few. You get the point, I want to go everywhere!
Do you take your own Photos?
Yes, unless otherwise specificed, of I am in the photo, I take all of my own photos with my Fujifilm X-T10, Canon PowerShot G7X Mark II or my iPhone 7 Plus. I love snapping photos of my adventures and daily life. That passion is what initially fueled my desire to launch Caution Meet Wind.
