It can be very difficult to find a good hotel from thousands of miles away. Now imagine trying to find ideal accommodations from thousands of miles away, in a country that is just beginning to experience mass tourism. Before I traveled to Myanmar (Burma), I spent quite a bit of time planning my itinerary and picking out my accommodations. It wasn’t easy, but I have to say, I was happy with each of the five different hotels I stayed at while visiting Myanmar and I would recommend each of them!
There were three things that were most important to me when selecting my hotels in Myanmar. First, I wanted to be centrally located. I knew my days were jam packed, and I didn’t want to waste a ton of time getting around. Second, I was looking for hotels that were clean and safe, but also had an authentic feel. I did not want to stay at any huge chains if I could avoid it. I did stay at a fairly large hotel in Yangon, but it was the perfect choice for us. Finally, I was looking for hotels that had decent food and drinks on site. After a long day of sightseeing, I knew it would be nice to be able to grab breakfast or dinner and the hotel if necessary.
Below are the five hotels I stayed at, and highly recommend, if you are planning a trip to Myanmar. If you have any questions about any of the hotels, let me know in the comments below!
The PARKROYAL in Yangon
This was the prefect hotel to start our time in Myanmar. Breakfast was included, so we were able to try the traditional breakfast fish stew, Mohinga! The PARKROYAL Yangon also had comfortable rooms, a bar, a pool, and very affordable massages at the spa, which we booked and thoroughly enjoyed after a late night arrival from Vietnam.

Bagan King Hotel in Mandalay
I LOVED the Bagan King Hotel! The rooms were beautifully decorated and the staff was so friendly. The real highlight of the Bagan King Hotel is the rooftop restaurant with striking sunset views over the city. We loved coming back to the hotel at the end of the day to recap our adventures over another amazing Burmese sunset!

Oasis Hotel in Bagan
If you’re looking for paradise in Bagan, the Oasis Hotel is the perfect location. This small hotel offers comfortable rooms, a small bar and eating area and a fantastic pool! Bagan has a fair amount of very high end resorts, but the prices are outrageous. The rooms at the Oasis start at only $39 a night and I promise this place is a total steal!

Paramount Inle Hotel in Inle Lake
If you choose to make the journey to Inle Lake you would be wise to stay at one of the hotels with traditional Intha cottages- we loved our over water room and the peaceful atmosphere. Paramount Inle Resort is a great property that is conveniently located and equipped with plenty of amenities, including a fantastic restaurant. The area is a bit desolate, so it was nice to stay at a hotel with food, drinks, and a fantastic sunset view.

Pleasant View Resort in Ngapali Beach
Our final stop in Myanmar was Ngapali Beach, where we enjoyed a few days of rest and relaxation. Pleasant View Resort was an incredible place to stay. As you can assume from the name, the views were amazing! We spent our days relaxing on the beach and the nights watching the sunset from our second floor balcony. There is also an amazing restaurant connected to the hotel that offers incredible sunset happy hours and fantastic food.
