When I was in New York earlier this week I was invited to dinner at the chef’s table at Red Rooster Harlem. I was so excited to try this iconic restaurant. I am a big fan of Marcus Samuelsson and love great comfort food.
We arrived early with a friend so we could enjoy a few cocktails at the bar after a long day of working. The drinks were great. We tried a few of the bourbon cocktails as well as the Harlem punch.
There was also an amazing band playing music in the bar area. Everyone was up and dancing which added to the fun vibe. Make sure you visit on a night with live music!
Once everyone arrived, we were led to the Chef’s table, which looks directly into the kitchen. It was a fantastic location, private but high energy with great views of the chefs.
Although it was a set menu, everything was served family style. I can honestly say each dish was better than the last!
The menu began with baby kale salad and deviled eggs. I’ve had plenty of kale salads but this one was phenomenal! The deviled eggs were also delicious.
The meal continued with fantastic cornbread, fried chicken, and salmon. The fried chicken was seriously incredible!
We also were treated to the mac and cheese, which was beyond amazing and sweet potatoes. This may be the best mac and cheese I have ever had. if you ever visit Red Rooster, it is a must order item.
We finished off the meal with two wonderful desserts, the donuts and the fresh sorbet. Red Rooster Harlem was such a treat! It was great to dine out with classmates at such an iconic establishment. The next time you are in New York City looking for a hearty meal with great ambiance, you should definitely head to Red Rooster!
